Obadiah the name means Servant/worshiper of God. I see this shows us that the prophetic is birthed out of worship that we have to be those that are close to the heart of God to be a reliable vessel to speak the word of the Lord.
Obadiah makes mention of the word of the Lord through Jerimaih 49:14 'I have heard a message from the Lord And an ambassador has been sent to the nations. Gather together, come against her and rise to battle'.
This is a prophetic word against Esua (Edom) to us, it is saying the desires of the flesh have to go or it will have Lordship over us.
Obadiah v4 'Though you ascend as high as the eagle and though you set your nest among the stars from there I will bring you down says the Lord'.
Nothing is outside of the reach of Gods soveriegn power.
God is making it known that He and He alone is soveriegn.
This is encouraging for us in the time we are in with oil and gas prices going up and the economies of the world changing, but our God is the soveriegn God who brings things down and raises those who are making Him Lord up in His time.
